Jonathan LaCour founded Employees First Labor Law in 2011 and has built it into a seven-office California trial firm with more than $200 million recovered for the people it represents. He has been named to the Super Lawyers list every year since 2020.
He is a trial lawyer first. His practice has centered on cases that other firms settle: wage-and-hour class actions, PAGA representative actions, catastrophic injury and wrongful termination, taken to verdict when the defendant would not pay what the case was worth. LaCour Trial Lawyers is the natural extension of that work, the same discipline applied to the communities that Southern California's largest companies have harmed all at once.
He lives in Pasadena, a few miles from the Eaton Fire burn zone.
Lisa Noveck is Managing Partner of Employees First Labor Law and runs the firm's litigation across its seven offices. She graduated with honors near the top of her class at Loyola Law School after earning her undergraduate degree at the University of Southern California.
Her practice has been built on cases under the California Fair Employment and Housing Act, the Labor Code and the California Family Rights Act, representing employees across healthcare, hospitality, retail, logistics, technology and professional services. She was counsel in the published California appellate decision De Leon v. Pinnacle Property Management Services, LLC.
In the class-action practice she leads case management, discovery and the coordination of thousands of individual class members' claims: the machinery that decides whether a disaster case is actually ready for trial.
Rony Barsoum has practiced injury law since 2003, first defending insurers and employers, then, for most of his career, representing the injured exclusively. That early defense work is an advantage: he knows how the other side values a case, and where it hides the money.
He has handled hundreds of serious and catastrophic injury claims, including multiple seven-figure results, and has tried cases before judges and appeals boards across the state. In LaCour's disaster cases he leads the injury and medical side, exposure, respiratory harm, the long-tail health consequences of a week of smoke and ammonia, and makes sure those claims are valued as what they are, not as an afterthought to property damage.
